„Bei der aktuell noch geltenden Zustimmungslösung dürfen einer verstorbenen Person nur dann Organe oder Gewebe entnommen werden, wenn explizit das Einverständnis dazu gegeben wurde. Mit der Widerspruchslösung ist dies umgekehrt: Wer zu Lebzeiten seinen Willen nicht festgehalten hat, gilt als Spenderin oder Spender.
Bei der vorgesehenen erweiterten Widerspruchslösung können die Angehörigen stellvertretend den Willen der sterbenden Person äussern, wenn eine schriftliche Dokumentation fehlt.“

Die Gesetzänderung tritt frühestens ab 2024 in Kraft. Ziel des Verbands ist es, die „schriftliche Dokumentation“ der Mitglieder zentral zu erfassen und bei Bedarf zur Verfügung zu stellen, damit ihr Wille und Wunsch welcher zu Lebzeiten festgehalten wurde, respektiert werden kann.
